I'm reading this book, Man Walks Into A Room by Nicole Krauss, and its premise is so captivating and haunting that I have to pause every now and then to not get too wrapped up in its intensity. Basically it's about a 36 year old married man who leads a fairly normal life as an English professor at Columbia, who one day just starts walking and winds up passed out in the desert of Nevada. They find out he had a tumor, so they opt for surgery, but afterward his memories after 12 years old are all gone. He returns back to his life but everything and everyone is new to him. Can you imagine how awful it is for his wife, for her to remember their entire relationship and habits, how it must be for her to live with someone who no longer shares the relationship with her? He is forced to be in this marriage and live with a complete stranger, while she must face the shell of the man she loved for over ten years. So much anguish!! I haven't finished so I don't know how it ends, but as always I am hopeful for a happy ending.
