charmed mornings- I woke up early and decided to explore my neighborhood. I put on my trainers and headed out onto the still-wet streets. I found my way past the uniform white townhouses to busy Cromwell St., looking for Gloucester which would eventually lead me to Kensington Gardens! Once on Gloucester I spotted people with breakfast pastries. I realized I had stumbled upon a Paul which I had seen in Xintindai in Shanghai, but didn't get to try. There I got a chaussons aux pommes (or Apple Turnover, for 1.55 pounds..sad) then marched on. It was so warm, flaky, and buttery, and the apple filling just right. It was the perfect accompaniment to the misty morning weather. I passed by so many cute buildings along the way. The neighborhoods look so perfect, I could cry. Weirdly, the weather kept changing... it would sprinkle and be cloudy then lighten up and get all warm. ugh! But I finally found Kensington Gardens... strolled in a little bit and saw lots of runners. Also a lot of dads run while pushing their babies in strollers. It doesn't seem very safe to me but it's cute. I passed by Princess Diana's memorial reflection pond. London parks are interesting; they're all very wide road-ed. I love big parks in big cities!
then i went out with my parents for breakfast at a nearby cafe on the other side of the neighborhood and i had a moccachino (2.30 pounds yiiikes) then we went to mcdonald's for the boys...
blahblah then we boarded a ship at westminster and headed to greenwich.
originally i was quite excited about straddling the prime meridian and all, where time starts. but i was so freaking exhausted i'd want to sit down alll the time. not to mention we had to hike up hella steps to get there. i almost forgot, yesterday we walked up 190 steps because we took the emergency exit out of an underground station instead of the lifts. lol bad suggestion from me. the greenwich market is really cute though and there was so much exotic food! i tried a hog roast.. yummy. i also had this chorizo & ham pie from a little stand, also yummy. i couldn't resist but get a wispa mcflurry from mcdonald's because i keep seeing ads for it and everyone passing us was eating it! it was good but then i spotted another dessert from burger king that looks amazing so that's next on the list.
we had fish n chips as a snack haha. they come with peas which are nasty. oh yeah so the royal observatory! super crowded but the buildings are gorgeous and i saw a camera obscura, which is like a primitive version of a camera that shows real time.
and then we went to oxford circus right when everything was closing which was depressing! but we'll be back at the end of the trip for all the shopping.. whoo hoo.
by this time it was almost dinnertime even though no one was hungry but we wanted to sit down anyways. so we went to masala zone, this indian restaurant near us, which was good! kind of different from indian restaurants back home. my dad and i shared a grand thali that came with lamb curry, chettpattis or something like that (a thin pita like bread), naan, dal (potatoes?), lentil, yoghurt, okra, and a gigantic greasy chip! soo good.
the housekeeping stole my hairband.
big brother plays every day... lol crazy.
belgium tomorrow yay!
i really love london, though. i could live here. the neighborhoods are so charming... and the streets make me feel so happy.
