time to review them!
I was originally very against these little sticks of evil that kept staring at me, especially that pretty pink one with the white sprinkles that I was convinced would taste like shit and cost me $1.95. After receiving a free coupon in the mail for a cake pop, I realized they weren't so bad after all. My first problem was figuring out which one out of three I'd use my free coupon on. I opted for the pink one because it was so pretty and because it was my friend's favorite. Hate me for judging books by their covers (which I also am guilty of).
So I had the pink cake pop and it was surprisingly good. I was a little perplexed by the consistency of the cake, which was more like cookie dough than cake. I wondered how cake pops held up without crumbling - now I know. It's mushy. Interestingly they still carry a cake-like consistency and taste, so there's not really a flaw here. The moistness is a little startling because I wonder if it's from grease, but if each pop is under 200 calories there can't be that much oil involved.
Anyway after devouring this initial "birthday cake" flavor, I knew I needed to try the others. As someone who is a hardcore chocolate fiend, I surprised myself by not immediately jumping at the chocolate flavor to start with.
The rocky road, though intriguingly lumpy, is a bit disappointing. I like the almond bits and found each bite to be satisfactory, but chocolate cake should be more rich in chocolate flavor.
The tiramisu has a cute little coffee bean on top. I found this one to just taste like coffee, so it was the least drink-compatible out of the three.
None of them are sickeningly sweet, and if I had to get one over and over again, it'd probably be the birthday cake because it's the cutest one to eat. Then Rocky Road, then Tiramisu.
If I could have reviewed this on Yelp somehow I probably would have, but I refuse to restrict this general review to one Starbucks page.
